YOUR LOWDOWN OVER LOCKDOWN

FOUR in 10 people now believe the UK was wrong to go into the first Covid-19 lockdown.

Today we reveal the results of a survey of 15,000 people five years on. It shows 61% of respondents think the country was right to lock down but a notable minority of 39% do not.

Mirror readers are more overwhelmingly in favour, with 71% saying it was a good idea.

Then-PM Boris Johnson declared the mandatory lockdown on March 23, 2020 a week after issuing guidance to stay at home if possible.

Just 14% reckon it was the right time, and 49% say it should have been sooner. Experts claim even a week earlier could have saved 25,000 lives.
