Wilder 'begs to differ' with Shea after big deal KO

Wilder wanted to sign Charles on loan from Southampton when Saints recalled him from Hillsborough and suggests a deal was much closer than the Northern Ireland midfielder lets on.

Charles opted to stay at Wednesday and Wilder insists he respects his decision to stay with the Owls ahead of today’s Steel City derby at Hillsborough.

“That's fair enough, we'll beg to differ on that,” said the Blades boss (below).

“Listen, there was a conversation between us and Southampton as a football club.

“I respect his decision, he's an opposition player and he'll be doing his best.
