A house is not a home without a dog or a cat. Here's how to design your interiors with your pet in mind

- REBECCCA JONES

PET-PROOF YOUR HOME

For the millions of us who share our homes with furry friends, it's essential to find decor that can withstand the chaos pets often bring. With muddy pawprints and shedding fur to contend with, keeping your home chic can be a challenge. But fear not, we've got the scoop on the best fabrics and colours to keep your space looking its best, even with a four-legged family member around.

SOFAS

Choosing the right material and colour for your sofa is key for a pet-proof living room. Synthetic leather is a dream for wiping down, while tight-weave fabrics are less susceptible to pet-related wear and tear. Matching your sofa colour to your pet's fur can help camouflage shedding hair.

Monika Puccio, buying director at Sofa Club, advises, "Nobody will know your couch better than your pet, so it is important to ensure they match. Even though a dark couch may be good at hiding accidental stains or dirt, it won't look good covered in hair from your white or light-coloured pet, or vice versa. Unless you're OK with pulling out the lint roller every day, you'll save yourself some time and effort by opting for a more neutral colour that will match your pet."

CONSIDERING he objects to the United Kingdom being \"colonised by immigrants\", it is a touch ironic that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is having to set aside the best part of £16million to pay off a small group of foreign workers.
