Hero surgeon: Story of Max's heart donor really touched me

THE surgeon who saved the life of young campaigner Max Johnson has praised the courage of the boy's heart donor and her family.

Keira Ball was just nine when she was killed in a car accident near her home in Devon in 2017.

Her heart was given to Max, also nine, who had spent eight months on the transplant list.

And after seeing other kids like himself die while waiting for transplants, Max became a champion of calls to change the law on organ donation, through the Mirror's Change the Law for Life crusade.
