Scrapping the two-child benefit cap will lift young people out of poverty
-

Ike many, I grew up in a working-class family and left school at 16. I've worked hard all my life and I know how important it is to have someone backing you, opening doors and creating opportunities.
That's why tackling inequality isn't just a political priority for me - it's deeply personal.
That's also why I welcome the news that the government is looking to potentially scrap the two-child benefit cap.
With the economy turning a corner, it’s right that we try and focus first on a policy that will help the people who need it most.
It's an opportunity to lift thousands of children out of poverty, support families through the cost-of-living crisis and make sure the benefits of this recovery are felt by everyone. But it has to be economically sound. For too long, too many people have been shut out of the benefits of growth.
It’s our job to change that.
