In a heartfelt ceremony at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Hall, survivors of the 1945 atomic bombing recognised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his steadfast advocacy of global peace, nuclear nonproliferation, and diplomatic dialogue.
The event brought together hibakusha, peace activists, and international delegates to highlight India's role in promoting a safer, cooperative world.
During the felicitation, several hibakusha-survivors of the atomic bombing-shared personal recollections, emphasizing the lasting impact of nuclear devastation. Shigeko Takahashi, 88, recalled, "We have lived through unimaginable horror. Seeing leaders like Prime Minister Modi speak for peace reminds us that the world can still choose dialogue over destruction."
