Delhi's Mustafabad Building Collapse Leaves Several Dead
The Sunday Guardian
|April 20, 2025
The entire area of Mustafabad is riddled with dangerous buildings. Illegal constructions are rampant.
As many as 12 individuals are still feared trapped under the rubble after a multi-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Mustafabad area during the early hours of Saturday morning. At the time of reporting, four people have been confirmed dead in the tragic incident, and the death toll may rise as several individuals remain buried beneath the debris.
An official from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) highlighted the challenges being encountered during the ongoing rescue operation, stressing that the densely populated and congested area is posing a serious hurdle to the movement of rescue teams and equipment.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is personally overseeing the rescue efforts and has instructed the MCD Commissioner to promptly evacuate other damaged buildings in the vicinity to prevent further casualties. She has also directed that strict action be taken against those found responsible for the incident, ensuring accountability and addressing the underlying causes of such negligence.
