S'pore Pools Trophy Right Up Argo Alley
The Straits Times

Smart type fancied in feature of sorts, a 2nd S.A. race to honour S'pore gaming company
Muzi Yeni once said in a post-race interview that Argo Alley was a classy individual who should one day win a feature race.
The no-nonsense South African Singapore Gold Cup-winning jockey is not one for glib talk. Having ridden the Argonaut six-year-old to five of his eight wins, he was not speaking out of turn.
The prophecy may not have been fulfilled yet, but the St John Gray-trained chestnut does have a good shot at a trophy race on Aug 23, even if the 1,600m race at Turffontein is not much different from one of those three stakes races he has already won.
The race was cherry-picked as the Singapore Pools Trophy 2025 Pinnacle Stakes by South African tote company 4Racing, to honour its Singaporean counterpart for the second time since the inaugural edition in January 2024.
With its largest purse of ZAR150,000 (S$11,000) from the nine races on the card, it will be run as the day's highlight.
Even without the fanfare of a Group event, a prize presentation ceremony will still take place after the race (8.40pm, Singapore time).
Pools chief product officer Simon Leong and product planning and development manager Fu Juncong will be on hand to give trophies to the winning connections.
