Robertson says Liverpool have to improve their off-the-ball work and attack to secure quarter-final spot
-
LIVERPOOL - Fullback Andy Robertson warned that despite Liverpool holding a 1-0 lead and playing at home, they must improve markedly for their March 11 Champions League last-16, second-leg clash against Paris Saint-Germain, whom he said are "probably the best team we have played this season".
The Ligue 1 side thoroughly outplayed the Reds in the first leg at the Parc des Princes on March 5, but were denied repeatedly by goalkeeper Alisson Becker's brilliance before being sucker punched by a Harvey Elliott goal three minutes from time. It ended PSG's run of 10 straight wins in all competitions.
Luis Enrique's men had 28 attempts on goal to Liverpool's two and hogged 65 per cent of possession, with Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitting they were very fortunate to secure a favourable result.
Said Robertson: "It's a game we're not overly used to in terms of how big the difference in possession was, how many shots they had and how many shots we had...
"It's going to be a tough game. They showed how good they can be, an exceptional team - probably the best we have played this season.
