Malaysian court orders Muhyiddin to pay $121k to ex-finance chief in defamation suit

The Malaysian High Court has ordered former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin to pay RM400,000 (S$121,370) to former finance minister Lim Guan Eng before the year ends.

The amount is part of RM1.35 million in damages in a defamation suit that the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president must pay in a court decision on Nov 8.
In the proceedings conducted in chambers on Dec 16, Justice Roz Mawar Rozain allowed a conditional stay of execution to Muhyiddin by ordering him to pay RM400,000 before Dec 31, and the remaining balance before or on Jan 27, 2025.
This was confirmed to the press by Mr Lim's lawyer, Mr Chetan Jethwani, and lawyer Guok Ngek Seong, who acted for Muhyiddin.
