Another title shot spawns for Spaun at Sony Open
The Straits Times

J.J. Spaun knows that it is best to limit his emotions, with just a narrow lead and a number of golfers capable of surging to the top at the Sony Open.
-
The American shot a five-under 65 to move into a one-shot lead after three rounds of the PGA Tour tournament on Jan 11 at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.
"I've felt pretty calm and relaxed," he said.
"It's always laid-back and easygoing. I've been carrying that mindset on the course, and it's easy to feel that way when things are going your way and you're playing well."
His best score of the tournament puts him at 13-under 197 going to the final round, and he will have plenty of pursuers within range.
The 34-year-old is ahead of second-round co-leader Patrick Fishburn (68), Eric Cole (67) and Germany's Stephan Jager (62) by one stroke.
Jager had the best score of the day, with birdies on six of the final 10 holes.
Spaun, appearing in his 219th PGA Tour event, is seeking his second victory. The first came in the 2022 Texas Open.
