SIR, The author of the write-up, "Why every home must get a newspaper" (Dec. 19) deserves praise for his excellent and thought-provoking piece.

His concern for the decline in print journalism is a serious issue to ponder over, viewed in the context that online editions have made inroads even in a largely conservative country like India.
