26 Rafale-M cleared for takeoff: India and France ink ₹63,000-cr defence pact to strengthen Indian Navy

In a major move to bolster the Indian Navy's air might, a deal between India and France for the purchase of 26 Rafale-Marine (RafaleM) fighter jets worth Rs 63,000 crore was signed here today.
As part of the intergovernmental deal between India and France, the country would receive 22 singleseater variants and four twinseater variants of the jet, designed in accordance with its Naval fleet's requirements.
Set to replace the MiG29 K fleet, the new fleet will operate from INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya. With the first lot of jets expected to be delivered in the coming years, it is scheduled to be completed by 2031.
As part of an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) model between India and France, the jets are designed in accordance with India's Naval fleet's requirements.
