Major boost for defence, border infrastructure

In alignment with the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, the defence ministry's total allocation for FY 2025-26 stands at Rs 6,81,210.27 crore, a 9.53 per cent increase over the previous fiscal. This amount includes a significant focus on modernisation, with Rs 1,80,000 crore allocated for Capital Outlay on Defence Services.
Of this, 75 per cent will be directed towards domestic procurement, supporting India's push for self-reliance in defence technology. The remaining funds will be spent on critical infrastructure and R&D in emerging sectors such as Artificial Intelligence and robotics.
