India, ASEAN share vision of a free, open Indo-Pacific: Rajnath

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday stated that India views its defence cooperation with the ASEAN countries as a contribution to regional peace, stability, and capacity building.
He said that the country’s approach has always been very clear, which is promoting an open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific. “Our strategic engagement with ASEAN rests ona shared belief that the Indo-Pacific should remain open, inclusive & free from coercion,” he said.
Singh, during his address atthe ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) in Kuala Lumpur, said that ASEAN has provided India with a structured platform that has consolidated the diplomatic and economic engagements.
Hesaid that India’s emphasis onrule oflaw and freedom of navigation, and overflight in the Indo-Pacific is not agains! any country, but to safeguard interests of all regional stakeholders.
