Ram Navami Celebrated Peacefully in Bengal

Political leaders participate amid tight security; Jadavpur University sees unauthorised observance

West Bengal witnessed widespread Ram Navami celebrations today under stringent security measures. Both the Trinamul Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) actively participated in festivities across the state. In Kolkata, Governor C.V. Ananda Bose began the day by departing from Raj Bhavan at around 11:00 a.m. to visit the Ram temple on Central Avenue.

To ensure peace during the numerous processions, the West Bengal police implemented extensive security arrangements, including the deployment of drones for surveillance in various areas. Prominent political figures marked their presence in different regions. Leader of the Opposition in the Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, joined the Ram Navami procession in his constituency, Nandigram, where he also participated in laying the foundation stone of a Ram Mandir (temple). BJP leader Dilip Ghosh organised events in Kharagpur, while BJP MP Soumitra Khan showcased his skills in lathi khela (a traditional bamboo stick game).
