CM Mamata Urges Caution, Not Panic as Covid Cases Rise

Amid a renewed rise in Covid-19 infections across India, chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday convened a high-level meeting at the state secretariat, Nabanna, to assess the state's preparedness.
Addressing the Press after the meeting, the chief minister urged citizens to remain alert but not to panic, assuring that the government is fully equipped to deal with any eventuality. "For now, there is no reason to be afraid," Banerjee said. "We are prepared to handle the situation. I appeal to everyone—stay cautious, but do not spread fear."
The meeting was attended by top state officials, including the chief secretary Manoj Panth and the health secretary NS Nigam, in response to a gradual uptick in Covid-19 cases over the past two months.
