The Assam Rifles, operating under the Indian Army's Spear Corps, launched a significant counter-insurgency operation in Manipur's Chandel district, near the Indo-Myanmar border.
IMPHAL, 15 MAY
Acting on specific intelligence regarding the movement of armed militants near New Samtal village in Khengjoy Tehsil, the troops engaged in a firefight resulting in the neutralization of at least 10 militants.
A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during the operation, which remains ongoing as of May 15.
