Calls for Strict Adherence to Tradition

- STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE BHUBANESWAR, 6 SEPTEMBER:

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has strongly objected to the continued conduct of Snana-yatra and Ratha-yatra by ISKCON across the world on dates not sanctioned by scriptures and tradition.

In a formal communication to the ISKCON Governing Body Commission (Mayapur), SJTA described the practice as a "blatant violation of sacred scriptures and ancient tradition" that has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Jagannatha devotees worldwide.

A detailed over 100-page document has been sent to the ISKCON authorities disputing certain contentions of ISKCON justifying its rath yatras.
