Opposition Ruckus Stalls Assembly Proceedings
The Statesman Bhubaneswar
|March 11, 2025
Opposition BJD and Congress created a ruckus in the Assembly on Monday, paralyzing proceedings by raising slogans and attempting to climb the podium of the Speaker.
While the BJD's protests were on, the alleged 'divisive' statements made by veteran BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra at an official function in Sambalpur in the presence of a Minister, the Congress was on its feet over rising crime against women in the state.
Shouting slogans and holding placards, the BJD accused the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the BJP party of remaining silent on such an explosive issue.
Speaker Surama Padhy was forced to adjourn the House repeatedly to try and restore order. She also called an all-party meeting to resolve the deadlock.
