Odisha's Health Transformation ignited by Ayushman Bharat, a groundbreaking health initiative launched by the Government of India under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has proven to be a transformative step in the country's universal healthcare system.

- By Dr Mukesh Mahaling Minister Health & Family Welfare

Its reach and benefits have been enhanced by Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana (AVVY) with the senior citizens at focus. Thanks to the pro-people Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi, inhabitants of Odisha are no more barred from benefiting from them.

In comparison to other pro-people programs of the double-engine government in Odisha, this universal health assurance scheme would benefit the highest number of beneficiaries. These visionary mass health care programs are not only improving access to healthcare for millions of people but also serving as a lesson in the political landscape of India – welfare schemes aimed at benefiting the masses cannot be obstructed indefinitely for political reasons.

In recent elections, the people of Odisha and Delhi demonstrated the power of their voices through voting. In Odisha, the change in leadership enabled the state to embrace the Ayushman Bharat scheme, breaking past political barriers created by the previous BJD government. With the BJP now in power, the people of Odisha can look forward to the implementation of this transformative initiative.

Similarly, in Delhi, a shift in political dynamics ended the reign of the AAP government, which had once opposed Ayushman Bharat.

A Vision of Well Being

The term "Ayushman," derived from Sanskrit, means "one blessed with long life." Health is the foundation of longevity, and a healthy population is the socio-economic backbone of any nation. With a robust workforce, India has the potential to emerge as a global leader.

Prime Minister Modi's vision is to provide every citizen access to quality healthcare, which will be the foundation for a healthy, productive nation.
