JSW Energy, an arm of the $24 billion JSW Group and one of the top five independent power producers in India, seems well set to come up with its Strategy 3.0, revising its earlier Strategy 2.0, in its mission to become one of the top 3 IPPs and emerge as a future-ready, diversified energy company with clear focus on clean energy.

The company, which had earlier lined up a Capex plan of Rs 1,15,000 crore, will also raise its Capex plans significantly, top company officials said.

Going by its earlier Strategy 2.0, JSW Energy was to add 10 GW capacity by March, 2025. However, it has added 10.8 GW.

By the end of the next fiscal, the Sajjan Jindal-owned power flagship is supposed to add 18 GW, out of which 3.2 GW will come from thermal, and 14.6 GW will come from renewables, which would also include hydro, said Sharad Mahendra, Jt Managing Director & CEO, JSW Energy Ltd.

"This has given us the confidence to revise our projections upwardly. We will roll out our Strategy 3.0 within the next 3-4 months with the revised figures and projections," said Mahendra, adding that the company already has 18 GW orders at hand.

The vision of the company is to balance thermal reliability and renewable scale-up for India's energy security. It had set up a generation capacity of 20 GW by 2030. It has installed 12.2 GW and has an under-construction capacity of 11.3 GW, which takes the capacity to 23.5 GW.

Election managers have meanwhile shifted gear from a three-month grueling phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to the hardcore routine of the conduct of polls - logistics, law and order, rebooting of their surgical methods and of course enforcement of the vexing model code of conduct (MCC).

Where the Moon sails the river

n Kartika Purnima, when the full moon spills itself over the Mahanadi and its sister rivers, Odisha becomes a single long, luminous sigh. The night is at once festival and elegy: lamps drift like small stars, miniature boats glide like secret letters, and the water takes the moon’s light and keeps itas memory. Here the celestial, the domestic, and the maritime fold into one another - the moon a silent witness, the river a courier, the boat a human hope set afloat.
