Iran—Oman hold 1st formal discussions over future management of Strait of Hormuz

Iran and Oman have met for the first time to hold discussions over the future management of the Strait of Hormuz, amid continuing disagreements over shipping routes, tolls and control of the strategic waterway, with both nations claiming sovereignty.

"During a trip to Muscat, the first meeting of the Joint Hormuz Committee was held,” said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi (photo) on X, without saying when it happened.

"While reviewing the current issues related to the Strait, we exchanged views on the future management," he added, reports CBS News.
