Gahirmatha nesting ground fenced for safety of newborn turtles

The forest department has moved to cordon off with fences the nesting beaches of Nasi-1, Nasi-2 and Eakakulanasi within Gahiramatha marine sanctuary to ensure the safety of baby turtles as newborns are expected to break out of the eggshells in a week's span.
"Six kilometer long fence has been erected to prevent the wild dogs, jackals, wild boars and other animals from feasting on the turtle hatchlings", said the Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF), Bhitarkanika N
