A DISTURBING video showing a Western Cape mother giving her toddler alcohol sparked swift action from local officials and Metro Police Neighbourhood Safety Officers (NSOs), who tracked down the woman in Woodstock after following multiple leads.

- MURRAY SWART

The footage, received on October 20, was shared among safety stakeholders to help trace the mother and child.

By October 24, NSOs were on the ground, scouring known hotspots and nearby areas until they identified and located the woman.

The toddler was immediately removed and taken to police's victim support unit while awaiting the Department of Social Development (DSD).
