Wedding parties head couple’s ambitious plans for village venue
The Sentinel
|September 01, 2025
FAMILIAR faces have moved into a rural inn and they have huge plans to make the place into a family-orientated destination.
Mat Allen and Celia Pemberton-Allen have taken over The Crewe Arms Hotel in Madeley Heath.
Many regulars from ‘The Birches Head, their former pub, have followed them to the new venue. The couple plan to convert the conference room into a family room, where children and families can play games and watch films at the Wharf Road inn.
Celia, who also does wedding dressing, is taking on weddings at the venue and they hosted their first reception just a day after moving in.
They hope to get a wedding licence so that a full ceremony can be held at the pub - which also has nine hotel rooms, with breakfast included.
Food will be served every day, with Sunday Dinners on a Sunday and a ‘Brits and Yankees menu’ available Monday to Saturday. The couple are taking on pool, darts and football teams, too.
