Warning as cat left with one eye

INJURED: Guinness after having his eye removed. Inset, before he was shot.

PET owners are being warned to stay vigilant after a stray cat was shot in the head.

David Ryder alerted a charity to capture the cat after noticing it had an eye injury this month.

The four-year-old cat - who has since been called 'Guinness' - had to to have his eye removed in emergency surgrery.

He is now set to be rehomed - but the person who shot him remains at large.

It comes just two years after Mr Ryder's own pet cat, Finny, was also shot.

Mr Ryder, of Blurton, said: "A few months ago, we noticed this young-looking cat lingering around the house. He looked perfectly healthy, just a bit skinny. We started feeding him because he was underweight.
