Valiants' determination is key factor for boss Moore

Saturday's 0-0 draw was a point gained for the Valiants given they were handed a huge slice of luck against a side in 14th position in the League One table.

The Vale boss said a clean sheet is something to build on, and although his team failed to score for the fourth league game running, he said the performance was "spot on."

"It was a game where both teams were committed," Moore told Port Vale TV.

"Credit to them [Wycombe], we knew the good form they had been in and knew the goal threat that they possessed as well but in terms of how the boys committed to the performance, the organisation, the game-plan, the tactics, it was spot on.

"It was more a game of chess for us in terms of the injured players that went off. We had to rejig the pack, losing Marvin [Johnson] for the second half and Kyle John.

"But it just shows the versatility of the squad that we can adapt with players adapting to positions that you wouldn't think the players could play but they showed that they can do so. I have to be pleased with the resilience shown by the boys, the battling performance, the work-rate and the commitment and of course the clean sheet. You can always work from a clean sheet and it stops the rot so I'm pleased with the players."
