Number of Championship play-off places to expand from next term

STOKE City will have an improved chance of qualifying for the 2026/27 Championship playoffs - assuming they don't reach this term's end-of-season showpiece.
It has been rumoured for the last few weeks EFL clubs would vote in favour of increasing the number of playoff places from four to six - and that indeed happened at yesterday's league meeting.
The EFL have released a statement confirming the expansion, a move that will no doubt please Stoke boss Mark Robins who was a keen proponent of emulating the current setup in the National League.
