Rovers spoil Vale's party!

VALE Park has come through worse, but the stadium's 75th birthday celebrations were rather spoiled by a 1-0 defeat at home to Doncaster.

Rovers spoil Vale's party!

No need to panic, but there is a danger of the narrative becoming ‘Vale still searching for their first win,’ rather than ‘Vale performing well without reward’.

‘The latter was certainly true of the first half as they took the game to Rovers, hit the bar through Cameron Humphreys, and twice went close through Mo Faal.

But it was a different story after the break as their threat fizzled out, Rovers took over and sliced open the home defence for Owen Bailey's 54th-minute winner.

That leaves Vale looking for a lift over a week that takes them to Birmingham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and Reading in the league on Saturday....and will hopefully see them bring in a striker after Lorent Tolaj’s £1.2m sale to Plymouth on Friday.
