Raja's late batting blitz ensures Meir Heath secure fine success

The away side were set a challenging 258 for victory - but managed to rise to the occasion and bank a three-wicket success.

Josh Renshaw’s 50, which included six fours and two sixes, 37 from Dale Heath and Asim Ali’s 20 got Meir Heath started after tea.

But they found themselves 178-7 after Tom Fox picked up three wickets and Tas Hussain struck twice.

However, Meir Heath were not fazed and a blistering half-century from Muhammad Raja ensured that they banked the points.

Raja faced just 19 balls in scoring 50 not out - hitting one four and seven sixes - with Mohammed Uwais Mukhtar (31no) keeping him company.

Earlier in the day, Ryan Nolan's excellent 127 helped Meakins to 257 all out.

Nolan's knock contained nine fours and 13 sixes, with Tariq Mughal keeping him company with 61. He hit eight boundaries and three maximums.

Raja helped himself to 5-63 and Farrhuk Javed scooped 3-25.

Betley were in clinical form to win on their visit to Sandbach.
