The Sentinel
|May 08, 2025
NANTWICH’S poor start to the Cheshire County League Premier Division season continued with a home defeat by Didsbury.
The Dabbers, the defending top-flight champions, have now lost their opening three matches to sit second-from-bottom of the early standings.
On the flip side, Didsbury walked away from Whitehouse Lane having banked a third successive victory to set the pace.
Visitors Didsbury put themselves in control of Saturday’s contest after reaching 271-8 from their 50 overs.
Rob Sehmi’s half-century set the tone for Didsbury, although there was plenty of handy contributions throughout the order.
Sehmi hit nine fours and one six in his 68, while Steve Green (42), Sam Leech (39no), James Green (29) and Abhay Tipnis (28) also played their part.
Scott Wardley claimed 3-45 for the Dabbers and there were a couple of wickets apiece for Jason Foulkes and Luke Robinson.
Nantwich fell to 21-2 in their run chase before Rob Jones and Spencer Byatt steadied the ship.
