Deceit exposed by undercover officials who filmed him lifting heavy equipment
A BENEFITS cheat was caught out after undercover officials filmed him coaching a football team.
Grandad Andrew Vincent scammed the taxpayer out of £18,000. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the 62-year-old began claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in 2017 after suffering from prolapsed lower back discs.
The condition left him housebound, requiring assistance to walk and go to the toilet. But he continued to claim between January 2021 and September 2023, despite his condition improving.
His deceit was finally unearthed after undercover officers from the Department for Work and Pensions filmed him coaching The Roaring Meg’s pub football team in Biddulph.
The footage showed him walking the length of the pitch, lifting heavy equipment and standing for long periods - despite his claim he could walk no more than 20 metres.
