DARREN Moore was overjoyed after Port Vale's final game of the League Two season against Gillingham and the mere fact they lost 1-0 was not about to stop that, writes Clive Youlton.

The Valiants boss wore a beaming smile and he maintained: “I'm absolutely delighted. I just can’t hide the joy that I feel for this football club.

“First and foremost for Kevin and Carol, the outstanding focus, contribution, insight to this season started with them.

“We've just carried it along. We have had consistency this season and we've had great support throughout from the fans. I’m just really pleased that it ended with promotion.”
