Hancock wants Vale home comforts as season unfolds

Vale chief executive Matt Hancock has been reflecting on the club's start to the season. Below: Port Vale boss Darren Moore

The Valiants chief executive sat down for his monthly catch-up on Port Vale TV and admitted that the team has to improve at Vale Park.

Leaving aside the FA Cup win against minnows Maldon & Tiptree, Vale have only won once in League One at home this season and scored just five goals in seven matches.

“I think we haven't started well at home again, that’s a fact,’ admitted Hancock.

“For us it's really important that we perform at Vale Park. That we do get the home supporters galvanised and we have a few opportunities over the next month to try and do that.

“If we can stick together, and when I say we, I mean everyone connected to the football club, if we stay together and stay as positive as we can, that will help”

The boos rang out after the last game against Stockport County in League One which was a second successive defeat after a loss at Wigan Athletic.
