Hammond looking for his Meakins side to build after their impressive weekend

MEAKINS captain Jack Hammond hopes that last weekend can prove to be a watershed moment in his side's season.
Meakins enjoyed a fantastic Friday and super Saturday as they won at Porthill Park twice - once in the NSSCL Twenty20 Cup and then again in Premier A.
The latter victory was especially welcome for Hammond's men after a testing start to the campaign.
That was just their third win in the league and although they remain the bottom two, sent confidence soaring as they prepare for this weekend’s home date with Bagnall Norton.
“Last weekend was massive for us,” said Hammond. “It was great for us and the atmosphere. Porthill Park have been a rival for a good number of years and winning there doesn’t come around very often, so to get two in two days was huge.
“We talked about how important a good weekend can be and we showed that and it’s given us lots of belief.”
Meakins’ start to the season has been something of a head scratcher - not only within the club, but also looking in from the outside.
Their three league wins to date have been against Hem Heath, Stone SP and Porthill Park - who all finished in the top four last summer.
And, remarkably, Meakins are yet to sample victory on home turf since the new Premier A season kicked off.
“It's been an up and down start. The games we've won, we've beaten three of last year’s top four all away from home. We've shown how good we can be,” added Hammond.
“Consistency is key and that’s the message I’m trying to drum into the lads - that’s probably down to me.
“But on our day we've been good, although there’s been some poor performances.
“We've not won at home which is unusual for us. I think it’s more of a coincidence, although it has been a fortress for ius in the past.
“Hopefully that’s something we can address quickly and into the second half of the season.”
It is still relatively early in the season and Hammond is not worrying about Meakins’ current position.
