Fatal hit-and-run victim's mum tells killer driver: 'I forgive you'

THE heartbroken mother of a man mowed down in a hit-and run horror crash has told the driver who killed him - 'I forgive you'.

Margaret Deaville said that she could not live the rest of her life 'full of hate for someone I don't know.

Leon Salt, of Field Place, Longton, was speeding in a stolen Mini Cooper when he knocked down Christopher Deaville on Newcastle Lane in Penkhull.

The 57-year-old pedestrian died at the scene of the crash which was just 60 metres from where he lived.

The defendant then dumped the car in Stoke and only handed himself in three days after the crime.
