Government delegation hears of challenges

- Sentinel Reporter

MORE than 20 representatives from Government departments toured ceramic manufacturers in North Staffordshire to witness their innovation and understand the challenges facing the sector.

The visit, organised by Ceramics UK, saw civil servants meet leadership teams from Vulcan Industries in Cheadle, Churchill China in Stoke-on-Trent and Ibstock in Newcastle.

From tableware used in the finest hospitality environments around the world, the bricks essential to the construction of the UK's housing stock, and high technology components for sectors including defence, the visitors were given a comprehensive overview of the scope and scale of the sector.
