GEORGE Byers is not taking anything for granted and he and his Port Vale teammates take on AFC Wimbledon, today.

Byers eager to rise to the occasion on capital stage

Promotion is so close the club can taste it and a win against the Dons, coupled with Bradford City failing to beat leaders Doncaster Rovers in the other early kick-off, will clinch a return to League One.

If that scenario doesn’t work, other results can come into play in the later games.

But Byers only wants to concentrate on Vale's task and said: “It’s kind of taking every game as it comes and not looking too far ahead. Yes there is a big prize at the end of it but there are important games we need to go and win before we can achieve that so it's telling the lads, stay relaxed. I've been telling them to enjoy themselves, come into training with a smile on their face, do what they need to do and when the games come round just make sure you are on it.”
