Pledge to reduce hold-ups
THE NHS has apologised for handover delays at Stoke-on-Trent's main hospital after ambulances were seen queuing outside.
Bosses at the Royal Stoke University Hospital were forced to issue a plea over the weekend to 'only attend A&E in an emergency' due to long queues. At one point on Saturday afternoon, as many as 20 ambulances were waiting to offload patients.
Now West Midlands Ambulance Service has pledged to continue its hard work to respond to emergencies and 'work with its NHS partners' to reduce holdups.
