'Absolute hero' Sharon saved my life - and my unborn baby's too'

Hospital trust award for caring midwife who also provided vital guidance and support for autistic mum-to-be Sophie

GRATEFUL new mum Sophie Jebb Bowman has hailed her community midwife as a hero - after she 'essentially saved' her life and that of her unborn baby.

Sharon Seadon provided support and guidance during and after the birth of Sophie’s son Harvey, who is now six months old. She admitted her to hospital after spotting Sophie, who is autistic, had pre-eclampsia, all the while being 'so understanding' of her 'mental health needs.

Now Sharon, who has worked in the community for 18 years, has been presented with a Hero Award from University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) following Sophie’s nomination.

Sophie, aged 32, of Burslem, called Sharon her 'absolute hero, adding: "I was very fortunate to have such a committed, caring supportive midwife. She was so understanding of my mental health needs and my autism. Each appointment she was always so thorough, professional, and committed to mine and Harvey's welfare. She was absolutely my hero and a huge credit to the NHS.
