'A bright future for Spode Works'

ANOTHER milestone has been achieved in the redevelopment of the Spode Works - as one of the many buildings in the historic Bottle Kiln Courtyard has been renovated.

Building 4L - which has largely been unused since the factory's closure in 2008 - was in a state of 'severe disrepair, with a partially collapsed roof, rotting timbers, broken windows, and asbestos contamination.

However developers Dog and Bone, who acquired the building last October, have taken just 18 weeks to complete its full transformation.

The building has retained many of the original features and is energy efficient with an EPC A rating.

Exposed brickwork dating back to the 18th century is now displayed, along with the ceiling trusses and two layers of the flooring have been stripped back to reveal the original 1939 wooden flooring.
