And improvements outside station due to end in summer

- Dave Knapper

A MAJOR improvement scheme across a mile-long stretch of adjoining Stoke-on-Trent roads is almost finished - 22 months after the project got underway.

Works have been carried out across College Road, Cleveland Road, Shirley Road and Regent Road between Shelton and Hanley in a bid to improve travel between the train station and city centre.

Now Stoke-on-Trent City Council has confirmed the project is nearly completed. Improvements carried out since the scheme began back in August 2023 have seen new pedestrian crossings, upgraded bus stops and shelters, improved lighting, and a cycle lane being rolled out north of Avenue Road.
