Sara's birthday wish: Bring Rody back to Phl
The Philippine Star
|May 31, 2025
Vice President Sara Duterte will lead today's gathering in The Hague, Netherlands, urging the International Criminal Court (ICC) to release her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained on charges related to his administration's bloody war on drugs.
The gathering, organized by Filipino communities across Europe, is set to take place today, May 31, and coincides with the Vice President's 47th birthday.
Duterte is also expected to meet with her father during her trip, with scheduled visits on May 30 and from June 2 to 3, according to the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed that Filipinos from different parts of Europe have started arriving to join the protest, which he described as both a political show of force and a personal gesture of support for the detained former leader.
Rodrigo Duterte was arrested and turned over to the ICC on March 11, in response to a warrant executed through Interpol. A recent Pulse Asia survey revealed that over half of Filipinos disapprove of his arrest and transfer to the international court.
