Passage of universal senior citizen pension bill sought

A party-list representing senior citizens has asked Senate President Francis Escudero to get the Universal Senior Citizen pension bill to the plenary for final approval while "there is still time in the remaining session days."
Senior Citizens party-list Rep. Rodolfo Ordanes, chairman of the House committee on senior citizens, said the 19th Congress is not yet over and some pieces of legislation are in the advanced stages, and many more might be refiled in the 20th Congress including the Universal Senior Citizens pension bill. The next Congress convenes on July 28.
"We respectfully urge our counterparts in the Senate, especially Senate President Francis Escudero to take urgent action," Ordanes said in a statement.
