Pampanga Residents Warned on Consuming Rice Field Rats

Amid the rising number of leptospirosis cases following flooding in several areas of the country, health officials at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) in this city have warned residents, especially farmers against consuming rice field rats.
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga —
JBLMGH chief Monserrat Chichioco said an infectious disease expert at the hospital said there is no guarantee that meat from rice field rats is free of leptospirosis virus.
The JBLMGH is a regional end-referral hospital of the Department of Health.
