'Life of a Showgirl' may just be Taylor Swift's best work yet
The Philippine Star
|October 28, 2025
I did not have high hopes for an album that Taylor Swift would release this year.
I thought that it cannot be any good. The reasons why were so obvious.
She must be tired, having just ended her "ERAS" tour, which by the way, made $2.1B in ticket sales alone. That amount does not include merchandise sales and other ancillary rights to the event.
Next, she is in a happy state with football star Travis Kelce as far as her love life is concerned. In fact, they got engaged last August. I tell you that it is easier to write songs when one is brokenhearted, which Taylor is not these days.
Then, there is the law of averages as far as creativity is concerned. Taylor has been writing songs most of her life. She had her first big hit, Tim McGraw, in 2006. She has been making hits for almost 20 years.
She deserves a break or her creative juices might decide to dry up permanently from overuse. This is the fact that most artists try to ignore. Talent does not stay forever. All your later efforts will only be to recover former glories.
