Flood control projects to get P2.4-B budget

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been allocated P2.49 billion for flood control-related projects under the proposed P6.793-trillion national budget for 2026.

As approved by the House of Representatives and the Senate, the P2.49 billion was earmarked for flood control and drainage systems, structures and other related facilities to be implemented in the 18 regions in the country.

For this year, each of the 18 regions, including the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), got P100 million worth of flood control-related allocation.

Meanwhile, P690 million was also allocated for the nationwide flood control-related projects covering the Flood Control and Sabo Engineering Center (P10 million); Camanava/Valenzuela-Obando-Meycauayan flood control structures (P50 million); Manggahan flood control structures (P50 million); Agno flood control structures (P50 million); Iloilo flood control structures (P50 million) and Lower Agusan flood control structures (P50 million).
