|December 18, 2025
THE “CONTROVERSIAL” RICKY LEE Scriptwriting Workshop Batch 30 has officially begun, with several film and showbiz personalities in attendance, including journalist-host Kara David and actress Cristine Reyes.
David posted a photo of her batchmates on her social media account, thanked Lee and her batchmates, and shared that she learned a lot from the first day of the class.
Earlier, National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Lee addressed online criticisms regarding his selection process for the workshop, including remarks questioning the inclusion of certain showbiz personalities and well-known figures.
"Pantay-pantay ang karapatan ng lahat — whether a celebrity, veteran or a beginner to be accepted," part of Lee's statement read.
"As long as you're qualified, interested in writing at angkop sa gagawing mix ng bawat batch, they are considered. Kasama rin sa batayan ng application ay ang malikhaing pagsagot nila sa questions (na kasama sa criteria) na naging batayan din.
"Binuksan sa lahat ang application upang bukod sa mga taga-industriya at mga kakilala na ay makapagpasok ng mga baguhang nagsisimula pa lang mangarap."
