CCAP at 45: Building a legacy of leadership and lasting impact

The Credit Card Association of the Philippines (CCAP) continues its mission to build a smarter, safer, and more inclusive financial system for Filipinos.

On October 9, this commitment was reaffirmed during its 45th anniversary celebration, “Celebrate the Past, Empower the Digital Future,” at Dusit Thani Manila in Makati City.
“Forty-five years ago, CCAP was founded to drive collaboration, innovation, and responsible growth in the credit card industry,” said CCAP Chairman Rolando Ebreo.
“Since then, we’ve advanced from manual and paper-based systems to digital platforms and real-time payments, evolving with our customers’ needs and our leaders’ vision.”
The event not only served as a look back but also as a call to action for what lies ahead.
It brought together industry leaders, partners, and colleagues to pursue one common goal.
"Our aim is to future-proof the financial system, where innovation is responsible and consumers are empowered," shared Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Lyn I. Javier.
"We strive to build a financial ecosystem that is digital by design and inclusive by intent."

Joel Rocamora and the Philippine Left
This column is about two books written by Joel Rocamora — “Impossible is Not So Easy: A Life in Politics” (Bughaw, 2019) and “Retrieving the Past: A Memoir” (Bughaw, 2024). Both are the stories of his life, especially his political life. At the same time, these are also the stories of the Philippine Left where Rocamora began as an active member of the National Democratic Front and later became a founding member of the Akbayan, the social democratic party which now counts Risa Hontiveros and Chel Diokno as its leaders. The author’s experience in civil society and governance with the National Anti Poverty Commission and the Center for Popular Democracy allows him to offer more than mere abstract theory.
